“Students to learn discipline from Notre Dame University”

PBA,Dhaka: “Notre Dame is a name of place which establishes based on discipline. I have been a teacher and an administrator. From my experience, fresher will learn discipline from Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB).”

Prof Dr Mesbahuddin Ahmed, former chairman of Bangladesh Accreditation Council came up with this remark while addressing the orientation program of Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) on Monday as the chief guest.

He told the new comers, “Once you grow up yourself here, you will fix your aim to do good in future. If you live a disciplined life, you will be happy and go towards your goal very fast.”

“You have to develop your attitude and then skill. This skill should be implemented in reality. With your charm, NDUB will show fantabulous performance in future,” Mesbahuddin, also former Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor added.
He emphasized on 4C theory. Critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication skills are part of the model he mentioned. Prof Mesbahuddin asked the students of NDUB to follow this for changing themselves.

Fresher of Fall Trimester were welcomed by NDUB holding a colorful orientation program at the open-space of the campus. New students along with their guardians came from different places of the capital as well as across the country to be a part of the program.

Presiding the program Prof. Father (Fr.) Dr. Patrick D. Gaffney, CSC, Vice Chancellor of NDUB said, “You should try to watch your destiny of life. Our teachers are carrying out research papers here. As a student you have to ask them for better learning.”
“Best days are waiting for you. Best of luck,” he furthered.

While addressing, Treasurer Fr. Subas Adam Pereira, CSC, advised the new students to know about themselves, so that they could serve the nation.

Dr. Father Leonard Shankar Rozario, CSC, Registrar-in-Charge of NDUB introduced the faculty members with the students. He shared his feelings with the students, saying, “It is like home coming of our freshers.”

Deputy Controller Of Examinations Fr. Boniface Tolentino, CSC, Director of Development Administration Fr. Frank Quinlivan, CSC, Student Counselor and Director of Maintenance Fr. Edmond Cruze, CSC, Assistant Director of Student Affairs Sister (Sr.) Shagorica Maria Gomes, CSC, Dr. Sr. Henrieta Gomes, SMRA, Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, Chief Engineer Taslim Uddin were present among others.

On behalf of Proctor Office, a documentary on students’ code of conduct was presented by Fr. Lawrence N. Das, CSC, visually. Public Relations office also presented a documentary on NDUB.

Director of Student Counseling Brother (Br.) Binoy Stephen Gomes, CSC, presented a PowerPoint presentation on importance of counseling while Assistant Director of Student Affairs Sister (Sr.) Shagorica Maria Gomes, CSC, introduced the club activities of the university.

The journal of English department named “Critical Insight” was unveiled at the program as well.

New as well as old Students also expressed their feelings regarding NDUB. A colorful cultural program was also held participated by the students.

NDUB held its admission test for the Fall Trimester on August 24 and regular classes are going to be resumed from September 6.

Notre Dame University Bangladesh was approved by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on April 29, 2013. It is located in the Motijheel area of the capital with 1.2 acres of land. Notre Dame College has a long history in the country.

Notre Dame College as well as Notre Dame University Bangladesh is expected to maintain that reputation in the field of education in the country.
